A
mile on the Fife Coastal
Path takes
us towards Inverkeithing. With a scrap yard on our right and a
quarry on our left, there is something exciting about the scariest
part of our pilgrimage. Inverkeithing's ancient Hospitium
is now a senior citizens' day centre. Do visit the pretty
Franciscan Friary / Palace Gardens.
From the suburbs of Rosyth
we walk
through Pattiesmuir village and the Bell Hills to enter old
Dunfermline town by the banks of the Tower Burn in Pittencrief Park.
Pilgrims visited Saint Margaret’s shrine at the abbey. We could
spend a day in this town but we must head east along another old
railway, then north over Kingseathill to Townhill and thence to
Kingseat village where the Half Way
House is recommended. |
